About Joplin
Joplin is located on the historic Route 66 and was a booming lead and zinc mining town in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It’s also known as the hideout location for the infamous Depression-era criminals Bonnie and Clyde; police raided their apartment in 1933, and the duo narrowly escaped, leaving behind several items, including a camera with now-famous photos.
To get to the airport From Joplin, take I-44 E to Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF), about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Alternatively, Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) is about 1 hour south via I-49 S.
