About Hays
Hays is famously home to the Sternberg Museum of Natural History, which houses an incredible collection of fossils from the Western Interior Seaway, including the iconic “Fish-Within-A-Fish” fossil (a 14-foot Xiphactinus that died after swallowing a 6-foot Gillicus).
To get to the airport From Hays, take I-70 E to US-183 N, then connect to US-281 N to reach Kearney Regional Airport (EAR) in Nebraska (approx. 2 hours), or head east on I-70 to Salina (SLN) or west to Denver (DEN) for major hubs. Hays Regional (HYS) serves local flights.
